SUCCESSFUL DESIGN CONCEPTS

As a designer, there are few things that are as exciting as coming up with an idea and discovering that the final product matches the original sketch.

These are the first official pieces of 2013 and I’m happy to see the year is starting off well.

Using recycled resin spikes(never underestimate the value of sample sales for supplies), faceted turquoise teardrops, red jasper, coral, bali silver and oodles of silver chain, these two necklaces work wonderfully alone or together.

On my neck today…

Two of my favourite delicate and lightweight necklaces, both made from turquoise(a mixture of Iranian and Tibetan), have been layered to create a cascade of silver with a pop of colour.

The latest addition…

The last piece I made for my own collection has rarely left my neck since.

Featuring hundreds of individually wire-wrapped beads(peridot, peach coral, onyx, lapis lazuli and turquoise), jumbo and regular sized teardrop lamp work glass beads, and amazingly clear rock crystal beads.

The One That Started It All

This is the necklace that started it all. Before this necklace I was someone who played with beads and tried to figure out how everything worked. So one afternoon, many years ago, I decided I would learn to wire wrap beads. Looking at this piece now, I see I wasn’t even close to what I consider the proper technique today, but back then I could not have been more proud.

Copper wire wrapped amber and turquoise necklace.

Not For The Faint Of Heart…

Two necklace set. These two pieces can be worn alone or together.

Turquoise, obsidian pendant, lampwork glass, vintage red glass, stone, wire wrapped and mounted onto handmade silverĀ chain.
